【摘要】:Upliftresistanceisoneofthepropertiesofanappliedshinglethatrelatestoitsabilitytowithstandwindforces.Themechanicaltestsdescribedarelaboratorymethodstomeasurethatresistanceatadesignatedtemperatureaftertheshingleshavebeensealedunderdesignatedconditions.Noquantitativerelationshiphasbeenestablishedbetweenthemechanicalupliftresistanceandupliftforcesduetothewind.Manyfactorsinfluencethesealingcharacteristicsofshinglesinthefield;forexample,temperature,time,contaminationbydirtanddebris,roofslope,andinterferencebymisplacedfasteners.Itisnottheobjectiveofthistestmethodtoaddressalloftheseinfluences.Thistestmethodisdesignedtodeterminethemechanicalupliftresistancewhenrepresentativespecimensofshinglesaresealedunderselectedconditionspriortotesting.ProcedureAproduceslowerresultsthanProcedureB.ProcedureAprovidesanedge-liftloadvalueandProcedureBprovidesaperpendicularloadvalue.Theprocedureapplicabletoaspecificproductdependsonthespecificproductdesign,geometry,andrigidity.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthistestmethodtodeterminetheappropriateprocedurewithreferencetothespecificproductandapplication.Itispossiblethatengineeringcalculationswouldrequirebothprocedurestobeemployed,andforbothresultstobeusedinthecalculationoftheresistanceofthatspecificproducttotheeffectsofwind.WhenusingthismethodinconjunctionwithTestMethodD7158todeterminetheupliftresistanceofshinglesaspartofthedeterminationofwindresistanceoftheshingles,determinetheappropriateprocedure(ProcedureA,ProcedureB,orboth)inaccordancewiththediscussion,andexamples,ofshinglegeometryandsealantconfigurationinSection12.2ofTestMethodD7158.1.1Thistestmethodcoversmeasuringtheupliftresistanceofasphaltroofingshinglesbymechanicalmeans.Itisapplicabletoshinglesthatuseafactory-appliedorfield-appliedsealant.1.2Thereareseveraltypesofshinglesdesignedforservicewithoutafactory-appliedorfield-appliedsealant.Theseshingles,whenappliedinaccordancewiththemanufacturers''applicationinstructions,employothermeanstoprovideresistanceagainsttheforcesgeneratedbytheactionofwindsuchasgeometryandshingleconstruction.Fieldexperiencehasshownthatthesetypesofshinglesfunctionsatisfactorilyinservice.Becausethereareavarietyoftheseshingledesigns,itisnotpracticaltodescribeinthistestmethodhowtotesttheseshinglesforupliftresistance.Thetestingofthesetypesofshingles,therefore,goesbeyondthescopeofthistestmethod.1.3Thistestmethoddescribestwoproceduresformeasuringshingleupliftresistance.ProcedureAemploysaspeciallydesignedapparatuswithaclampingdevicewhichfacilitatesliftingoftheedgeoftheshingleandmeasuringtheforcerequiredtobreaktheseal.ProcedureBemploysametalx201C;Tx201D;sectionadheredtotheweathersurfaceoftheshingletofacilitateapplicationandmeasurementofaperpendicularforcetobreaktheseal.1.4Itisnotprohibitedtousethistestmethodoverarangeofsealingtimeandtemperaturecombinationsandtestingtemperaturestosimulateavarietyofactualfielduseconditions.Thetimesandtemperaturesusedshallbestatedinthereport.1.5ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoinch-poundunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddress......
